Choosing Floor Tiles for a Timeless Bathroom

There is something quite magical about timeless tiles. They are always stylish, age characterfully over time, and can last generations. So, what makes a floor tile timeless, and how can you bring this look into your own home?

When choosing timeless flooring, look to old manors for inspiration. They’ll show you what’s stood the test of time, and how they can still work for you a hundred or so years later!

1. When in doubt, go monochrome. Choosing white tiles, or black and white for the floor, has been a favourite for centuries, meaning this classic style won’t date.

2. Stick to classic patterns, such as a grid, brick, checkerboard, or octagon with dot. These tile patterns are found in homes and estates that are hundreds of years old, and they still retain their charm!

3. Choose stone. Stone tiles have so much character, and become even more interesting as they patina with time. They can be super hard-wearing, and once eventually they start to age, they bring so much charm and history to a home.

4. Get inspired by a charming old home or estate that you love, and choose similar tiles. When creating your home in a timeless way, it’s important not to focus on trends, and focus instead on what you love, and what’s already stood the test of time!

5. If you’re able to, consider reclaimed tiles. These tiles have already “lived”, and so will instantly bring an extra level of character and history to your home, which only comes with the passing of time!
