5 Ways to Elevate Your Kitchen Shelves

Open kitchen shelves can start out lovely, and then begin to amass clutter. Elevate and freshen up your kitchen shelves with these 5 tips! Think of these shelves as both decorative and functional.

1. Show off your cute plates and cups

Select tableware you use often, so they don’t gather dust. And try to select pieces that visually go well together. Your random other bits can live in the cabinets, and don’t necessarily need to be on display all the time.

2. Store functional pieces that double as decoration

Open shelving is a nice place to store those beautiful kitchen accessories you fell for, such as a marble mortar and pestle, or design colander or kettle.

3. Include your favourite servingware

Have a favourite vase, but no flowers? Or a carafe, jug, or serving bowl that are for special occasions? Store them on higher shelves to remind you to make use of them, as well as to show off your home style.

4. Add a decoration or two

A candle holder is great for decoration, and can also create atmosphere when lit! Also try a potted plant, such as your favourite herb, or a hanging vine.

5. Create a visual moment

Group together pieces that you’d use at the same time, such as your coffee pot, coffee tin, and favourite mugs. It could also be wine and wine glasses for example. Or a pot of fresh basil next to the mortar and pestle.
