English Palace Kitchen at Hatfield House

Timeless kitchens are certainly something to be admired! For all of the planning that goes into redoing a kitchen, and for all of the time we spend these days, as a family, in our own home kitchens, choosing a style that will last the test of time is really ideal. At a recent visit to the Hatfield House palace of Queen Elizabeth I, I noticed quite a few details that have continued on in traditional British kitchens for years. Apparently, for hundreds of years! Take notes!

The open Welsh dresser, for displaying and organising kitchen and serving ware.

Cupboards with airing holes, iron towel hooks, and boat lamps.

Lantern lamps and seemingly random oil paintings.

Panelled shelving!

A favourite of mine - brass candle holders!

And glass cabinets.

How many of these details would you have in our own home?
