5 Ways to Make Your Garden Cosy in the Cold

Make the most of your outdoor space, even when it’s cold outside! Here are a few tips, to make it feel welcoming, and maybe even a bit magical, during these darker months. You might even dare to sip your morning coffee outside, or stay out there long enough during the day to roast marshmallows!

1. Drape sheepskins and blankets on any chairs or benches you still have outside. This option is really only for a dry day, or for when you know you will actually be spending time outside. But you’ll feel much more comfortable and warmer for it!

2. Create ambiance with ice candleholder trays, or candle lanterns. These are so welcoming as you approach the door to your home! Otherwise, place it near another garden feature for a bit of glow. Find out how to make one with VillasJovik here.

3. Decorate your glasshouse with wintry decor, such as wreaths, pine garlands, or fairy lights. This also would work for the exterior of your garden shed!

4. Create a seating area around a fire pit. This is the ultimate winter warmer, and makes for incredibly cosy moments with family, friends, or your partner. Don’t forget the marshmallows for roasting! Also, if you’ve never had a s’more - this is your moment! (If you don’t have any graham crackers, nor Herhseys chocolate, nearby, try making s’mores with McVities Digestive biscuits and Cadburys milk chocolate!)

5. Construct a snowball lantern like in Scandinavia! This pyramid-shaped candle lantern, made from stacking snowballs, is an old tradition in Sweden. It is incredibly charming and welcoming, especially when welcoming friends and relatives in from the cold, after trekking to your home!
