How to Create a Scandi Laundry Room
A laundry room should feel fresh, and ideally, so lovely that it becomes a place in which you enjoy spending time! This airy and welcoming Scandi style laundry room fits the bill. Think painted wood combined with design touches. Here are a few style ingredients you can bring together to create this look at home.
1. Light wood - Scandinavian interiors favour light tones, to balance out the all-encompassing outdoor darkness in the winter. Consider light natural wood, white-washed, or painted wood floors, to achieve a Scandi feeling in your room.
2. Globe lamp - A design staple, the globe pendant lamp or table lamp (strategically placed on a windowsill, ideally!), is a Scandinavian favourite. Try this style in your laundry room for a clean look and feel.
3. Flat woven wood birch baskets - Baskets in laundry rooms are traditional and are also very trendy. However, this flat woven wood birch style is the traditional basket style in the Nordic region. Using this type of basket will certainly add a Scandinavian feel to your room.
4. Woven rug - In Sweden, it’s very traditional to have flat woven cotton rugs. Try one of these rugs in blue, to bring a touch of colour, texture, and tradidtion.
5. Painted trim - Select a light blue, or equally fresh tone to paint the woodwork trim in your space. It’ll bring a bit of personality, whilst remaining subtle enough for the white walls to sing.
6. Panelling - Many traditional homes across Europe have panelling. Try a white tongue-and-groove style to create a welcoming Scandi country feel at home.
